A Star is Born
Today L2 had her first drama class and boy was she THRILLED. The program is for 2nd through 6th graders and it goes for about 8 weeks - at the end they put on a real show. Real costumes, sets, music etc. Each child gets a part, and a solo song. It is so perfect for her. She came out of the class excited because she had gotten a "main part" (from what I can tell, while she is a main character, all of the kids have about the same number of lines). She didn't care that she is cast as a boy - gotta love the way L2 rolls with things. L1 was signed up originally, but backed out when she thought she might get a boy role, and wouldn't know anyone. Both she and Z were definitely a little taken aback by what L2 gets to do, but (suprisingly with the way they've been behaving lately) didn't let on too much. L2's reading in bed tonight was her script, over and over again. And when I kissed her tonight she told me she couldn't wait for Wednesday to come again.

Home
It feels so good to be home! The final two days of our vacation were much better than the first 6. the girls started to behave better and we ended the break with some good memories. Now I am back to trying to get the house in order, get to the grocery store. Oh, and I should get a run in there since I haven't run in 2 weeks, but not feeling like it now.

Spring Break 2009
Aren't Vacations Supposed to be Fun?
This year's break has been very mixed. I feel very lucky that we were able to get away at all, given the economy, so don't want to complain. However, the girls did not get along at all! It has been terrible. Constant picking, criticizing, complaining about each other. If they can't get along on vacation, when can they? I know I can't expect them to want to be around each other all of the time, but I do want them to look out for each other and not compete (she got more milk, no fair, I wanted that one!, she is such a jerk! etc.) As I type I hear L yelling at Z about not having gotten a turn yet. It never ends!!! What is the answer to fixing this?
On a bright note, they are all doing very well with their skiing and I think being a skiing family has stuck. Despite my lesson, I feel like I have made no progress in moving to the next level, despite being in better shape this year. We leave tomorrow and after a stop at the K's for a quick overnight we will be home Sunday and I can't wait. Spring is going to be a new beginning for this family.
